In June 2010, I participated in the video interview series “Conversations with the Masters,” hosted by Brien K. Jones of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). In the first part of the interview, filmed at the NACVA/IBA Annual Consultants’ Conference in Miami, Brien and I discuss the growing influence of LinkedIn and how business valuation professionals can use it to their advantage. We then transition into a discussion of the discounted cash flow model (and the Integrated Theory of Business Valuation).  And since I was speaking on the topic at that session, we talked specifically about marketability discounts, and how the QMDM can be used as a tool for determining these discounts.  Finally, Brien asked me what advice I might have for beginners in the business appraisal field.  All in all, it was a fun interview.
