This day marked the beginning of the greatest amphibious military assault in history. It is good to remember our fallen and remaining soldiers from that great day. I mentioned D-Day in a previous post reflecting on Memorial Day. It remains impossible for me to imagine the courage displayed and the fear overcome by so many thousands of our armed forces. Join me again in thanking anyone you know remaining from that era and in remembering those who are no longer with us.

But June 6, 2014 is an unusual day, at least for me. This is not a serious post, but a reflection on a string of 6’s:

Today is June 6th

Tonight there will be a birthday party beginning at 6:06pm in Daytona Beach, Florida

The party is to celebrate 66th birthdays

The party is for the Mainland Senior High School Class of 1966

Because most of our classmates turn 66 this year

That’s not profound, but it is pretty neat. So I’m in Daytona Beach today, getting ready for all the sixes to align tonight. I’m looking forward to seeing my classmates who will be there and remembering those who can’t make it for the festivities. This party is between two reunions, which happen every five years. It should be a lot of fun. I love going to my reunions and have been to them all. If you have not done this, let me recommend it. You learn a good deal about yourself and your friends. It is an amazing thing to have these periodic shapshots of yourself and those you went to school with long ago.

So that’s it from Daytona Beach.

Until next time, be well!

Chris
